I think that I'm going to work with Poughkeepsie as my beat area. When looking for a beat area, I wanted to find a place that had a wide variety of topics to cover and a city seemed like the best environment. Poughkeepsie draws not only the issues of a city, but it also has a thriving cultural center. I thought the city could offer not only the serious news pieces, but also a lighter side with their music scene and the theatrical community. I don't know too much about the community but I'm looking forward to discovering more about it.
